2011 Student Leadership Summit was held March 2, 2011 at University of Texas San Antonio (Main Campus)
The Heroes & Heritage Student Leadership and Educational Summit is an outreach program designed to introduce minority high school, university students, and students with disabilities from underserved communities to career opportunities in the Department of Defense workforce, our federal agencies, and uniformed services.
This student summit is a forum for future leadership transition and succession. The annual student summit is also about promoting and strengthening diversity and equal opportunity. This program addresses the underrepresentation of Hispanics and other minorities in our Federal agencies. It is truly a hands on “outreach” mission.
Forging positive relationships with minority students in underserved communities is the most effective strategy for educational success and potential careers in our federal agencies.
The student leadership summit is about changing a student’s trajectory to a positive future. “If we can provide hope instead of despair and a ‘navigation process’, we are going to create better citizens”.
